Monel is formed as result of using nickel as the main metal and adding different metals to it which in turn increases overall durability and mechanical properties of the alloy, making its use ideal in places where wear and tear of parts and components manufactured from ordinary metals is less than ideal. The alloy cannot be machined at room temperature an relies on either cold or hot working using either forms for the alloy. It is manufactured originally using soluble forms of nickel and copper metals. Forging different grades of metals have different melting points prescribed for them.
Monel sheet plates and coils are highly resistant to any forms of corrosion or abrasion due to its excellent ability to block off any amount of degrading films from its surface. Use of many different metals gives the alloy a diverse quality which helps in easy forging of sheets and plates from it. Sheets and plates are machined using CNC machines that use computer aided designs to forge them. Forged coils are stored in mesh form using a rotary machine that rolls the coils and shapes.
